SOCD – South Oakland Community Day 2013

South Oakland Community Day (SOCD),  Noon to 6pm on Saturday September 7, 2013
     at Dan Marino Field/Frazier Fieldhouse at Frazier St and Dawson St.   It is being planned jointly by SONG, Oakcliffe Housing Club (OHC) and other interested residents, and presented by Community Human Services (CHS).
  •      It will be a family friendly celebration of our community, with food & music, raffles & giveaways, sports, games and activities for all ages.
  •     Next planning meeting Monday, August 26, 2013 at Frazier Fieldhouse, 6PM.
  •     Look for other entries or the calendar for other meetings or dates.
  •     Please check regularly for any new info.

Current fundraising:
• Selling hamburgers, hot dogs, pop, water and other assorted items as we get them at Dan Marino Field
   • Tuesdays & Thursdays 5-8pm, and Saturdays 11am-2pm
   • Spaghetti Dinner – Friday 8/23 at Parkview Manor on 3250 Parkview Ave.  More details when we get them.
Immediate needs for fundraising:
• Volunteers to get the word out, emailing, calling, handing out flyers.
• Volunteers to help with fundraising, even a couple hours at a time.
   • Initially Tuesdays & Thursdays 5-8pm, and Saturdays 11am-2pm
• Donations for fundraising of:
   •  cash, hot dogs, hamburgers, cheese, buns, spaghetti, napkins, condiments, pop, bottled water, snacks, etc
• Participating vendors and other groups requests by Friday August 9, 2013
   • Can be initiated online at SouthOaklandPgh.org/SOCD-VENDORS
•  Resident Donors can notify us of their intentions, and even donate online.
•  Business or Institutional Sponsors can notify us of their intentions, and even donate online.
•  Volunteers can notify us of their intentions at

Other needs for actual event day:
• Volunteers for setup, teardown, cleanup, food preparation, games, activities
• Games, sports equipment, activities for various age groups
