5/2/17 SONG Mtg Cancelled To Maximize Attendance At OGV Mtg

The meeting for the community to address concerns about Oakland Gateway Ventures' proposals for the Oakland Area including the properties in the 3400 block of Bates St ("the porches") will be Tuesday May 2 at 6pm at the Oakland Career Center at 294 Semple St. 
 
  That would normally coincide with the monthly SONG meeting, but given the importance of that meeting, we have decided to cancel the SONG meeting.

South Oakland Community Day scheduled for Saturday August 27 Noon to 7pm.  We still have room for vendors if you know anyone interested.  We hope you will consider volunteering for the event to help show off our great neighborhood! And of course donations are always welcome, either monetary or items for our Chinese auction or as other game prizes.

There have been a few extra challenges getting things ready for implementing our Love Your Block Day for the South Oakland Community Orchard, so we are going with our backup date of Saturday 5/14 starting at 10am. We hope to see you there.

  South Oakland Community Day (SOCD),  Noon to 7pm on Saturday August 29, 2015 at Dan Marino Field/Frazier Fieldhouse at Frazier St and Dawson St.
  It will be a family friendly celebration of our community, with food & music, raffles & giveaways, sports, games and activities for all ages.

Tree Pittsburgh is helping the Oakland Green Team educate and prepare residents about fruit tree maintenance to ensure this community orchard in South Oakland is sustainable and successful. Saturday, May 16 at 10:00 am Tree Pittsburgh will lead a pruning and maintenance workshop at the orchard; 3213 Parkview Avenue, all are welcome.

Frazier Farms Community Garden Bed Build and Prep
Join students and South Oakland residents build 5 new garden beds for the Frazier Farms community garden! These beds will increase the number of residents and students who are able to use a bed to grow food, increasing the community’s access to local and fresh produce!
Activities
Garden prep for existing raised garden beds. Site prep and build 5 new beds.
