City Of Pittsburgh Snow Angels Program
Snow covered sidewalks can be hazardous for everyone. Pittsburgh Snow Angels is a program that helps minimize the hardships of winter by pairing volunteers with elderly or disabled residents to assist with snow removal.

Along with fostering stronger community relationships and relieving some of the stress that comes from a snow storm, Snow Angels makes our sidewalks safer for those who continue to serve despite the winter weather – like postal service workers, firemen, and police officers.

To help boost volunteer numbers this year the City is holding a competition to see which community groups recruit the most Snow Angels volunteers. Winning groups will be recognized by Mayor William Peduto and receive other perks.

or call 3-1-1 to volunteer or to request an angel.

University of Pittsburgh Campus Master Plan Community Meeting
Tuesday, October 9, 2018 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
University Club, Conference Room A
For the Fall semester 2018, the University will hold six “Be A Good Neighbor Block Parties.” The primary objective of these block parties is to bring students who live or will be living in specific Oakland neighborhoods together with long-term residents of those neighborhoods in a “get- to-know-one-another social setting.” Many long-term residents believe these efforts continue to be effective in the reduction of disruptive behavior from the student population. The University of Pittsburgh believes the block parties along with other “educational initiatives” undertaken by both internal and external partners have been major contributors to this reduction and that these efforts should be continued. In this regard, the following is the date for local block party for 2018:
September 20, 5:30-7:30pm South Oakland, Dan Marino Field, 3716 Frazier St

Commuter Survey

The Make My Trip Count (MMTC) 2018 survey has officially launched!

The Make My Trip Count regional commuter survey launched, as part of Pittsburgh’s effort to capture residents’ changing transportation choices.

Created by Green Building Alliance in partnership with the region’s major transportation partners Make My Trip Count (MMTC) measures traditional transit modes like personal vehicles, light rail, and buses, in addition to ridesharing (such as Uber and Lyft), electric vehicles, and bike share users.

The survey on MakeMyTripcount.org takes 5 to 10 minutes, and the results will inform critical transportation and infrastructure decisions throughout Western Pennsylvania.

“The survey asks every resident to share their commuter experience,” explains Executive Director of Green Building Alliance Jenna Cramer. “We can only create a healthier and more vibrant city if we understand how all Pittsburghers access economic opportunity.”

Respondents who complete the survey will be entered into a drawing to win one of twenty $50 visa gift cards.

Make My Trip Count runs from September 10th until October 26th on MakeMyTripCount.org.
