University Talent Alliance Seeking Job Applicants

Looking for a job with competitive pay and benefits? 
 
Carlow, CMU, Chatham, and Pitt are teaming up to launch a new jobs program called the University Talent Alliance, designed for residents from Oakland, Uptown, the Hill District, and Homewood.

The Department of Parks and Recreation Will Keep 4 Healthy Active Living Centers Listed Below Open as Warming Centers 4PM-9PM Wednesday, January 30th and Thursday January 31st:

City Celebrates Black History Month 2019

City of Pittsburgh Celebrates Black History Month With Tribute to Early Life in Pittsburgh 
 
An exhibit celebrating Black History Month will be displayed in the lobby of the City-County Building in downtown Pittsburgh beginning on the evening of Tuesday, February 5, and continuing weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Thursday, February 28.  
 
“Enslavement & Freedom: Early African-American Life in Pittsburgh” will feature 37 artifacts from Africa and Pittsburgh, both pre- and post-slavery, including documentation from the first-ever Black bank in Pittsburgh, the City's 1840 census, a 10’x 8’ handwoven kente cloth, a 600-year-old drinking vessel and other historic artifacts. 
 
The public is invited to attend the exhibit’s opening reception on:
Tuesday, February 5, 6 – 8 p.m. 
 
The ceremony in the City-County Building lobby will include remarks by Pittsburgh Mayor William Peduto and others involved with the City’s Black History Month celebration.

Student Police Academy Spring 2019 Apps Due 2/23/19

The Pittsburgh Bureau of Police is offering an opportunity for students, free of charge, to become closely acquainted with the roles and responsibilities of the Police Bureau. The Pittsburgh Student Police Academy (SPA) will bring the Pittsburgh Police and the high school youth together in a setting that offers a sample of police training to each student. 
 
The Spring 2019 session of the SPA will begin on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at The Pittsburgh Police Training Academy, 900 N. Lincoln Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15233 
 
The Program will be held each Wednesday evening, from 6:00 PM—9:00 PM for 10 weeks.

Pgh City Offices & Facilities Closed Xmas Day; Refuse Pickup Wed 12/26

City of Pittsburgh Offices and Facilities Closed for Christmas Day and Refuse Collection Suspended
City of Pittsburgh offices and facilities will be closed on Christmas Day, Tuesday, December 25, and refuse collection will be suspended. 
 
Citiparks facilities including recreation centers and Healthy Active Living centers will be closed Christmas Day, as well as the Mellon Park tennis bubble and the Oliver Bath House. Other hours for the facilities during Christmas week are available here. 
 
The Schenley Park Skating Rink will be closed on Christmas, and hours for the rest of the week are available here. 
 
Refuse collection for Oakland will be postponed until Wednesday December 26.
