Attached is a flyer about the Pitt Master Plan community meeting, which is next week on Tuesday, October 9 at 6pm. This will be our first opportunity to see a draft of Pitt’s Master Plan, so we really encourage residents to attend and share their input if they are able.

University of Pittsburgh Campus Master Plan Community Meeting
Tuesday, October 9, 2018 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
University Club, Conference Room A
For the Fall semester 2018, the University will hold six “Be A Good Neighbor Block Parties.” The primary objective of these block parties is to bring students who live or will be living in specific Oakland neighborhoods together with long-term residents of those neighborhoods in a “get- to-know-one-another social setting.” Many long-term residents believe these efforts continue to be effective in the reduction of disruptive behavior from the student population. The University of Pittsburgh believes the block parties along with other “educational initiatives” undertaken by both internal and external partners have been major contributors to this reduction and that these efforts should be continued. In this regard, the following is the date for local block party for 2018:
September 20, 5:30-7:30pm South Oakland, Dan Marino Field, 3716 Frazier St

Allegheny County, the City of Pittsburgh, Port Authority of Allegheny County, and the Urban Redevelopment Authority of Pittsburgh have proposed a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system that connects Downtown Pittsburgh with Uptown, Oakland, and several other communities.

In addition to enhancing public transit, this project has the potential to unlock development and contribute to neighborhood growth and link residents to job centers, educational opportunities, medical services, and cultural attractions.

Explore the Schenley Farms National-Register Historic District in Oakland with docents from PHLF. Where cows grazed peacefully on a steep Oakland hillside, Nicola saw grand boulevards and elegant homes, hotels, and clubs. We’ll walk along the quiet residential streets of Schenley Farms, where Nicola’s company developed a high-quality residential community with the latest modern conveniences.
