Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) IN PROGRESS

  • 9-1-1 – Reporting an emergency, crime in progress,or otherwise need police presence:  Call 9-1-1.
    • Police response to non-emergency situations will be given lower priority.
    • Complaints without a complainant will be given even lower priority.
    • Disruptive property and other “nuisance” behavior should also be reported to 3-1-1 and/or Oakwatch for recording and possible further action. 412.621.7863 ext. 27 or email oakwatch@opdc.org
    • You can also report suspicious activity with the Pittsburgh Bureau Of Police  Online Tip Form
  • 3-1-1 – Reporting non-emergency situations or conditions that do not require police presence: Call 3-1-1, or the online 3-1-1 Submission Form where you can attach pictures and get email with tracking # and possibly updates with answers or progress.  Again, disruptive property and other “nuisance” behavior should also be reported to 3-1-1 and/or Oakwatch for recording and possible further action. 412.621.7863 ext. 27 or email oakwatch@opdc.org

  • Residential Parking Permit Program (RPPP)
    • Permit Parking does not guarantee parking. With or without permit, “reserving” street parking spaces is illegal, and items left in the street may be removed, and citations may be issued (for littering?).
    • 1 Visitor Pass per housing unit.  1 Parking Permit per vehicle.  Limit of 3 Parking Permits for housing units of unrelated people.
    • Tickets written by Pittsburgh Parking Authority are are handled by Pittsburgh Parking Court.  List of violations and fines/fees.
    • Citations written by City Of Pittsburgh Police are handled by Pittsburgh Municipal Court.
  • Bureau of Animal Care & Control serves the residents of the City of Pittsburgh by providing care, control and resolution to situations dealing with domestic animals and wildlife.

    • Dogs outside their owner’s property must be on a leash except in designated “Off Leash Exercise” Areas.
    • All dogs and cats must have current rabies vaccination ($100.00 citation).
    • Check the Pet Owner’s Page for list of pet licensing/ID rules ($100.00 citation) and related “nuisance” violations including “pooper scooper” law ($300.00 citation), excessive noise, damaging property.
